4 Years in a Row: Lew’s Captures ICAST Best New Rod & Reel Combo — Again!

Even though competition was as strong as ever at the 2017 ICAST Show, the new Mach Crush Combo from Lew’s won the Best New Rod & Reel Combo. This makes it a four-peat for Lew’s in this category!

The new-for-2018 Lew’s Mach Crush Speed Spool SLP baitcast combo was voted best rod and reel combo by attending buyers and media in ICAST 2017’s New Product Showcase competition. With its orange highlights complementing a black finish, the Mach Crush features Lew’s exclusive SLP Super Low Profile compact design in a premium 10-bearing Speed Spool reel with the proven MSB Multi-Setting Brake dual cast control system. The reel handle has Winn Dri-Tac knobs, and the combo’s one-piece IM8 graphite rod sports a Winn Dri-Tac split-grip handle. Rod guides are American Tackle’s innovative Airwave system.

As legendary angler Hank Parker notes in the video below, a rod-and-reel combo of this quality typically costs a lot more than the average angler can afford. Thankfully, the Mach Crush baitcast combo is considered a high-end outfit, but it retails for a very reasonable $199.99.

“It was a great first day [at ICAST] for Lew’s,” said company CEO Gary Remensnyder. “We gave awards, we won an award and, ironically, we ceremoniously saluted our 2018 product launches this afternoon with a raising of Orange Crush sodas as a symbolic toast to our product development team that served up so many great items for the new tackle year, including the Mach Crush baitcast combo.”

Everyone raises a can of Crush for an ICAST toast.

Check out the video below to see legendary bass angler Hank Parker break down what makes the new Mach Crush different from the rest. Congrats to Lew’s on a well-deserved award. It’ll be interesting to see if they can make it a five-peat next year.
