Video: Moose Steps Directly in Front of Oncoming Car

Any time you’re driving on mountain roads, you should be alert and on the lookout. But, as you’re about to see, if you see a bunch of cars pulled over near “watch for wildlife signs,” it’s a good bet there’s some kind of animal in the area. Slow down and pay attention!

Kayla Whitehead posted this video to her YouTube channel, and said she was on her way to go backpacking in Eagles Nest Wilderness, Colorado, when her and her friends noticed a couple moose standing near the road on Highway 9.

Several cars stopped on both sides of the road to observe the animals, but some folks never got that memo to watch for wildlife on the side of mountain roads.

As the moose are running alongside the road, you can see one turn toward the road and run up the embankment. Just then, an oncoming car approaches and the moose steps right in front of it. The car plows into the animal sending its 800-pound-plus body flying into the air.

The car windshield was shattered and nearly broke all the way through. The moose was also banged up, but Kayla says it was able to limp away slowly into the bushes.
