A sad tragedy struck Homecroft, Indiana, yesterday, after Lieutenant Aaron Allan of the Southport Police Department was shot dead by a victim of a car wreck he was merely trying to help.
According to sources, Lieutenant Allan and another Homecroft officer arrived at the scene of a car that had rolled over at an intersection, and the officers began checking on the two occupants who were still in the vehicle. One of the occupants opened fire, striking Lieutenant Allan multiple times.
The Homecroft officer and an off-duty reserve deputy from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office returned fire and struck one of the subjects. The wounded subject and the subject injured in the crash were both taken into custody.
Following the shooting, Lieutenant Allan was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital, but he later died. He served over 20 years in law enforcement, and is survived by his wife and children.
In memory of Lieutenant Aaron Allan, Thin Blue Line USA has started a fundraiser in which 100 percent of the profits will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund. For more information, follow the link in the Thin Blue Line Facebook post below:
