Vista Outdoor Employees Raise Over $70,000 for Families of Fallen Police Officers

Vista Outdoor employees raised over $70,000 for two families of fallen Kansas City police officers, and the contributions were presented to them during the company’s Hunt/Shoot Sales Conference in Overland Park, Kansas.

Vista Outdoor Employees Raise $70,000 for Families of Fallen Kansas City Police Officers
Overland Park, Kansas, July 31, 2017 – Vista Outdoor Inc. (“Vista Outdoor”) (NYSE: VSTO), announced that its employees raised more than $70,000 for two families of fallen Kansas City, Kansas police officers. The contributions were presented to the families of Detective Brad Lancaster and Captain Dave Melton during the company’s Hunt/Shoot Sales Conference in Overland Park, Kansas.
Detective Lancaster lost his life in the line of duty on May 9, 2016, leaving behind a wife and two children. Captain Melton was killed in the line of duty on July 19, 2016, leaving behind four children (one daughter was recently born on December 10, 2016).
“We believe in the importance of giving back to people in need in the communities where we live and work,” said Jason Vanderbrink, Senior Vice President of Sales for Vista Outdoor. “Many of our brands have a long-standing commitment to supporting law enforcement, and we knew this was a cause that our employees would support. Detective Lancaster and Captain Melton gave their lives defending the people of the Kansas City community, and we were honored to present this small gesture of thanks to their families.”
Vista Outdoor’s Hunt/Shoot Sales Conference includes more than 30 of the company’s brands serving the shooting sports market. Many of these brands, such as Bushnell, Primos, BLACKHAWK!, Hoppe’s, Butler Creek and Uncle Mike’s, have employees in Overland Park, Kansas.
Conference attendees had the opportunity to bid during a silent/live auction to help raise money for the families. The auctions, and additional cash donations, led to each family receiving a check for $36,584.
