Michigan-Based Outdoor Company Sends 2,000 Kayaks for Hurricane Harvey Relief

Thousands of kayaks are being loaded onto trucks and are headed from Muskegon, Michigan down to Texas and Louisiana to help aid in Hurricane Harvey relief.

According to mlive, Muskegon-based KL Outdoor/GSC Technologies is sending 2,000 of their personal watercrafts and a whole truckload of jon boats to help those ravaged by this storm.

“Our consumers are suffering down there,” said Chuck Smith, CEO of KL Outdoor/GSC Technologies. “Anything we can do to make life a little bit easier for them is a good thing.”

On top of the 2,000 kayaks being loaded up, KLO/GSC is also sending jon boats to Academy Sports + Outdoors, a Houston-based sporting goods store, to lend a hand in rescue efforts. For those curious, a truckload amounts to roughly 50 boats.
