This is tragic news: a man was found shot to death over the weekend while deer hunting in Harrison County, Indiana.
According to Fox 59, Indiana Department of Natural Resource officials report that Thomas Zimmerman, 58, was hunting on private property out of an elevated ladder stand Sunday evening.
It was around 6:40 p.m., when a friend hunting with Zimmerman took a walk past his treestand, and found Zimmerman unresponsive. He called for help, and officers were forced to use a rope and pulley to get Zimmerman out of his stand and on the ground.
Zimmerman was found with a close-range gunshot wound to the head, investigators said, and no foul play is suspected. DNR officials report the toxicology and other test results are still yet to be released.
