NFL Quarterback Fires Back at Criticism for Wishing His Hunting Dog a Happy Birthday on Twitter

Before his season was devastatingly cut short by a knee injury, Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz was having his best season yet.
On Tuesday evening, the signal caller was making headlines again, but this time for defending a Twitter post he made to wish his hunting dog a happy birthday.
Happy 5th Birthday to Mama Henley! We’ve been through a lot in 5 years. Best dog and hunting buddy I could ask for! pic.twitter.com/HW8DbxTyML

Wentz, who we’ve seen in the field plenty of times, did what a lot of dog owners do, and drafted a quick Twitter post to wish his dog, Henley, a Happy 5th Birthday. The tweet featured two photos of the dog; one when she was just a pup, and another showing her proudly standing behind a number of geese after a successful goose hunt.
It wasn’t long after the post started gaining thousands of views, that the trolls started to respond. One user wrote in response to Wentz’s post:
“As a friend I wanted to quickly highlight that a man in your influential position might cause offence (sic) through the posting of your first picture. I support its sentiment however the context and content of the pic could offend.”
Wentz then shared his thoughts:
Appreciate that, but offensive and controversial? Two of the main things I tweet about are Jesus and hunting. That’s what I’m passionate about and that won’t ever change! When you love something, you talk about it! Stay convicted about it and don’t worry what others think! https://t.co/3XsxU0kybC

Sorry for being cliché, but that response from Wentz was a touchdown in our book! And those who take offense in Wentz’s hunting photos will just have to look elsewhere, because this gunslinger has made it clear he isn’t going to stop hunting, or throwing touchdowns anytime soon.
