Video: Cougar in California Tries to Break Glass Door to Eat Family’s Pet Dog

A California family got the scare of their lives when a mountain lion appeared at their backdoor, and desperately tried to get inside to get their pet dog.

“It was kind of scary because he was kind of not wanting to leave and he charged into the window four times,” Sammy Kerr-Jarrett said in a ABC 13 News report.

Sammy, who’s 8 years old, was at home with his mother, Nadine Young, and was just about to let Daisy, their 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier, outside for the evening. Fortunately for Daisy, Sammy looked through the glass door before opening it, and saw two eyes glowing as they looked back at him intently.

“He was going to put the dog out and he freaked out and said, ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, there’s a puma! There’s a puma!'” Nadine recalled

“I had no idea what he was talking about. I’d never seen one before. I went to the door and low and behold, there’s a huge mountain lion right there, trying to get in.”

Nadine says the mountain lion would not take its attention away from Daisy, and that it was very clear what it was there for.

Apparently, other neighbors have also reported this mountain lion (which is tagged) as a problem after losing their pets, and seeing the animal in the area fairly consistently. Nadine simply wishes the puma would be relocated, and pointed out that she contacted California Fish and Wildlife, which said they will investigate the incident.
