21 students on the Stroudsburg High School rifle team in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania will be getting new gear thanks to donations brought in by the local community after the school board refused to accept a grant from the NRA.
According to CBS News, the school board voted 6-2 against accepting $4,730 from the NRA. In the meantime, a GoFundMe campaign setup by Dem. state Rep. Maureen Madden brought in over $10,000 before the week had ended.
“Whether or not you agree with their decision, I believe most of us support the rifle team,” the GoFundMe reads. “Their equipment is in excess of forty years old and it’s time for an upgrade to enable them to compete at the highest level.”
