Giraffes and Elephants Among Animals Caught in Unusual Snowstorm After Blizzards Hit Africa

Lions, elephants and antelope have been pictured bracing an unusual snowstorm after an intense cold snap gripped South Africa’s Western Cape region this past weekend.

South Africa has just transitioned from winter into spring, but mother nature proved to have one final act left. . .

Plummeting temperatures and snow – yes you read that right – moved into the region on Friday, making for some stunning scenes on social media:

Among the several perplexed animals, a herd of antelope surrounded by icy vegetation were seen grazing on the Glen Harry Game reserve in Graaff-Reinet on the Eastern Cape.

Some areas have reported being hit with up to 10 inches of snow over the span of three days. Fortunately, a handful of drone operators have been capturing the stunning scenes of the unusual snowfall:
