Here Are 5 Must Have Phone Accessories to Pack For Deer Camp

Bringing a smartphone with you to go hunting is a bit of a controversial subject among hunters. Many consider the quiet peacefulness that comes with days spent in the woods a vital part of hunting. For some, though, a phone can be a necessity, and even a great way to pass the time. If you are bringing your phone along hunting with you, here are five phone accessories you should also bring to get the most out of your phone.

Now, there are some “more traditional hunters” who look down on bringing your smartphone with you to the deer blind, but I would venture to say most of them could really benefit from having one with them in the field.

  1. Portable Battery

A portable battery can save you a lot of headache while you’re out in the woods. Your phone’s built in battery almost never lasts as long as you’d like, so having a spare can make watching that percentage go down a less stressful experience.

This is especially true in colder weather. The cold can cause your phone to lose power much faster, and even die unexpectedly. When this happens, a reliable portable battery will be your best friend.

They come in all shapes and sizes, and are generally good for multiple charges. There are even some built to stand up to tougher weather, giving you one less thing to worry about.

  1. Heavy-Duty Case

A solid case will keep your phone protected against the weather as well as accidental drops. Both of these problems become even more likely when you’re out in the woods.

You can get a phone that has just enough protection to cover you for most drops, or one that will keep your phone intact if dropped underwater. A phone will probably be one of the most expensive pieces of equipment you take on your hunting trip, so make sure it’s well taken care of.

  1. Case With A Built In Battery

Combining the last two into one is a case with a built in battery. This allows you to protect your phone and keep it well charged without having to carry a portable battery with you. Most battery cases are a little thin on the protection side, so make sure you get one that still has pretty rugged protection.

One downside of cases with built in batteries is that the extra battery generally only holds about one charge. Bringing one of these with a portable battery will help you get the most mileage out of your phone.

  1. Solar Charger

Another battery saving tool you may have heard of are Goal Zero solar chargers. These are essentially miniature solar panels that can plug into your phone. They’re usually a little more expensive than your standard portable battery, but they’re also good for an infinite number of charges (assuming the sun is out).

They’re also pretty lightweight, taking up less storage space than some portable batteries. In fact, there are even some portable batteries that can be charged with solar energy, giving you unlimited charges during the day, and plenty of juice throughout the night.

  1. Attachable Camera Lens

If you enjoy taking pictures during your hunts, then an attachable camera lens like Phone Skope will improve your phones camera drastically. Cell phones now come standard with an excellent camera, and when paired with premium optics, can produce print quality results.

Whether you enjoy taking pictures up close or from far away, this is an easy way to make your pictures look better. It can also be helpful for substituting binoculars, allowing you to use your phone to see much farther than normal.
