High-Speed Winds and Strong Waves Wash Away Lake Michigan Lighthouse

Here’s a question: how do you determine if a storm is serious? Well, when it smashes an iconic light tower into one of the Great Lakes, you may want to run for the hills.. or at least take out your camera and snap some cool pictures!

Check this out, high-speed winds and strong waves both played a role in washing away the historic South Pier Light Navigational Beacon located in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. As you’ll see, the only thing left remaining of the 20-foot structure is its concrete base. The U.S. Coast Guard will begin searching for the structure once the waters have calmed down.
