SHOT Show 2019: Vertx unveils new choices for weapon-toting fashion

Cincinnati-based tactical fashion company Vertx showed off their newest bag and clothing designs at SHOT Show 2019. New fabrics and new bags were at the forefront.

In the clothing department, Defiance jeans are a new item. These “unassuming” everyday casual jeans have 11 mostly discreet pockets. The fabric content is not everyday denim, though. They’re 71 percent denim, 17 percent Coolmax, 7 percent Modal, 4 percent polyester, and 1 percent Lycra, providing a consistent texture, faster drying, and comfort for moving around. Pick dark stonewash or dark wash (black) for $66.95.

The latest in Henley shirts from Vertx is the Weaponguard Action Henley. On the outside it has classic three-buttoned, raglan-sleeved Henley appearance. Inside, from midway to the bottom, a thin polyester VaporCore underlayer tucks into the waistband, protecting the wearer against abrasion and irritation caused by waist-borne gear. It’s a polyester/cotton blend in combos of black, heather, and indigo, and sells for $49.95.

Tying these pieces together is the new Brahma belt, which appears to be made of leather-like but more durable biothane. A price was not available.

On the bag side of the booth, the new Contingency duffel is a standout. It easily morphs from duffel to backpack mode, with lots of storage for electronics, camera gear, guns and ammo, or any combination thereof. Full-length compartments are ideal for stable carry of a broken-down carbine; shorter compartments can protect pistols or M4 mags. It’s waterproof. $205.99.

Vertx is replacing its courier bag this year with the Deadletter Sling Bag. The sling Is convertible for right or left side carry; inside compartments are made of the company’s new, upgraded mesh. $189.99.

Both bags are available in the usual tactical colors, or in a subtle tweed look that doesn’t scream “gun person.” Most of the company’s designs are made to accommodate well-equipped but discreet carry.
