Vulture Blamed for Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Authorities in Kansas are saying a vulture was the cause of a motorcycle crash that killed a married couple while riding in southern Kansas. According to Kansas Highway Patrol, the vulture blamed in the incident appeared suddenly out of a ditch, causing the motorcycle-riding couple to drive off the road.

As the report reads, the vulture flew out of the ditch and struck 42-year-old Brandon Husband in the head on a rural road roughly 13 miles northwest of the Barber County town of Medicine Lodge. He then lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle, veered off the road into a barbed wire fence, and overturned.

Highway Patrol says Husband was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife, 43-year-old Jennifer Husband, died later at a hospital.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
