[SHOT Show 2020] Remington’s Enhanced Model 700 CP + Flashy, New Marlin Carbines

Remington has a long history with producing bolt action firearms and in 2019 introduced the new model 700 CP (Chassis Pistol) built around the new Remington 700 Chassis system. It is designed to provide an accurate and compact pistol for both short- and long-range shooting or hunting. Last year the Model 700 CP was a pistol grip-only system.

Now in 2020, the Remington 700 CP is now enhanced with an SB Tactical pistol brace, making this a highly versatile package for the range or field. The short action 700 CP is available in three calibers:  .300 Blackout, .223 Remington, and .308 Winchester, and includes a 10-round magazine. MSRP is $1,559.

As most readers know, Remington acquired Marlin Firearms several years ago. Having always been a fan of short-barreled lever action carbines, I found some of the most intriguing guns of SHOT this year to be the Models 1894, 1895, 444, and 336 Marlin lever action carbines. These carbines by Marlin are both eye-appealing and a very practical firearm for the field and truck carry. Available in a variety of calibers and many options via the Marlin Custom Shop, what is not to like?

One example of the new lever carbines by Marlin is the Model 1895 Dark series, with a barrel just over 16 inches. A handsome carbine indeed!

Marlin Carbines come chambered in 45-70 Government, 30-30, 38 Special/357 Magnum, 44 Special/44 Magnum, and 444 Marlin depending on model. Prices vary in the Dark Series from $750 to $950 depending on model. Marlin Custom Shop carbines can exceed $2,000 MSRP depending on options and Cerakote finishes.
