[NRAAM 2023] Aero Precision Solus Hunter- Refocused for the Field

While at NRAAM 2023, I was given some time to look over the new Aero Solus geared for hunting. This new Solus Hunter will be paired with a new beautiful lightweight stock, new barrel profile, and promises not to skimp on accuracy or handling.

Aero Precision Solus Hunter – Refocused for the Field

The Solus is Aero Precision’s bolt action family that was first announced at SHOT Show 2022, they have been hard at work taking industry and customer feedback to further develop their standalone action, accessories, and complete rifles. I was given the opportunity to shoot a Solus Competition rifle at SHOT Show 2023 Range Day, and I was very impressed with the performance of that rifle. The stock on this new Solus differs in a few regards to the standard Solus Bravo yet still shares the same blend of PRS and hunting rifle characteristics and handling. The grip and adjustable comb height will make this rifle feel just at home in the field or shooting from a bench. Kirk from Aero Precision did say that they are looking at a lighter profile barrel for this Solus to further lighten the rifle. Even with the heavier profile barrel on this preproduction model, thanks to the deep fluting, weight was already well within what I would describe as a comfortable hunting rifle. I, for one, am excited to see the continued development of these rifles. The first launch of these new Solus rifles will be in 6.5 Creedmoor, then .308 Winchester, with additional short action calibers to follow.

The Solus Bravo rifle seamlessly blends the needs of the target shooter and hunter in one distinct package. The heart of the rifle is the Solus Action and our honed and lapped match grade barrel. When paired with the Kinetic Research Groups Bravo Chassis shooters are provided essential chassis benefits, traditional stock ergonomics, and lower overall weight when compared to other rifles in its class.

Solus Action Features:

  • Remington 700 Short Action Footprint
  • 60-degree bolt throw
  • Integral 20 MOA top rail
  • 3-lug interchangeable bolt head
  • Dual ejectors
  • “Cock on lift” bolt design
  • Integral 20 MOA top rail
