Remington’s Full-Featured Budget Bolt-Action Model 783 is Reborn!

If you’ve been on the hunt for a rifle that you can afford this season then you’ll be interested to know that Remington has just announced the return of their value-conscious Model 783. The Model 783 saw an earlier release in 2013 but was overshadowed by the mass panic surrounding the potential availability of AR-15-style rifles. However, now that the dust has settled, Remington wants to reintroduce the Model 783 to you in 7 different calibers, and standard with the Crossfire trigger, three different stock options, and of course access to several different barrel lengths including heavy barrels for those with precision in mind.

Remington’s Full-Featured Budget Bolt-Action Model 783 is Reborn!

Features of the standard rifle include:

  • High nylon fiber content black synthetic stock with pillars for consistent action beddingpressure and free floating of the barrel. This is a huge aid in accuracy and allows the magazine latch to function without issues. The stock is also equipped with a Supercell recoil pad. There is also a variation of this rifle that come with a Kryptek Obscura Transitional camo stock.

  • It is available in 7 calibers – 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 270 Win, 308 Win, 30-06, 7MM Rem Mag, and 300 Win Mag.

  • The barrel and action are finished in a smooth but non- reflective black oxide.

  • The barrel is of magnum contour, button rifled, and has a stepped target crown. Standard calibers are 22” and magnum calibers are 24 “.

  • The barrel is mated to the receiver using a barrel nut that allows for consistent head spacing.

  • The Crossfire trigger utilizes a blade type, two step function. It comes set at 3.5 lbs. and is user adjustable for pull weight from 2.5 to 5 lbs.

  • The bolt is steel with a floating bolt head. This insures consistent bolt face alignment with the case head and positive lock up with the receiver, every time.

  • The extractor is an AR type that functions without issue and is easy to clean and maintain.

  • The stiff round steel receiver has a cut ejection port and is drilled and tapped for the included Weaver style scope mounts.

  • The magazine body is made from blued steel and snaps into place with a steel latch, flush and clean with the bottom of the rifle.

  • Also available is a compact version , which features a 1” shorter length of pull and a 20 “ barrel.

  • The compact is offered in 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor . 7MM-08 Remington and 308 Win.

  • As well, we also offer a model with a threaded heavy barrel. That version features a Flat Dark Earth Stock , oversize tactical bolt knob, and comes equipped with a picatinny rail scope mount. The HB-T is offered with a 16.5” barrel in 308 and with a 24 “ barrel in 308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor.
