[ICAST 2023] A New Lake Monster the Berkley PowerBait Nessie

Long-time fishing tackle and lure makers, Berkley Fishing has brought out a new lake monster, the PowerBait Nessie. It’s a new big profile soft plastic jointed bait that swims and looks like nothing we’ve seen before. The Nessie can be skipped, slid, or cast this soft-bodied glide bait into all sorts of places other hard-bodied glide baits couldn’t get to before. It will be available in three different sizes starting at 5″ at the smallest, an intermediate 7″ bait, and the largest at 9″.

The Nessie is very versatile on the retrieve, able to be fished slow, fast, or any speed and cadence in between. Equipped with stabilizing fins that keep the bait running consistently at all times. The fins even give the bait enough lift to be almost walked along the surface. The soft body and the stabilizing fins make the bait incredibly responsive to every twitch and pop of the rod. Even when just slowly reeled in the swimming action was nice and wide. The joint of the bait is reinforced with a mesh and a hook retention clip is built in, this all to make a tough lure that won’t break apart after just a few fish. The bait is paired with a sticky sharp Fusion19 treble hook on a swivel so fish can’t twist off the hook.

With a MSRP starting at $7.99 for the smallest size the Nessie opens the door for anglers who want to try fishing jointed glide baits without breaking the bank. The Nessie will be available in stores starting this September.
