Daiwa has brought out the next generation of EXCELER Spinning reels, proudly unveiling this new iteration of the reel, loaded with significant improvements. These new reels offer striking good looks, smooth performance, a steady drag system, and so much more. All of this for just around $100 USD. The new 23 EXCELER LT will come out in multiple sizes starting from a 1000-size spinning reel up to a 6000-size spinning reel.
“We kind of went back to the drawing board with the EXCELER,” says DAIWA Senior Marketing Manager, Marc Mills. “First, we upgraded to a carbon fiber body—ZAION V—so the new version is lighter than current EXCELER models for comparable sizes.”
Mills continues: “We also went to an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, so rather than an air rotor, AIRDRIVE ROTORS are much lighter. We also changed the bail to a thinner, lighter (yet solid) AIRDRIVE BAIL. We selected a solid bail wire for its rigidity and resistance to bending during normal use; the thinner, smaller wire is also lighter, which reduces the weight of the rotation, thus reducing the weight of the reel.”
The original EXCELER LT is already a proven choice, with many years of use all over the globe by countless anglers. It’s at a price point that won’t make the wallet cry but still can perform at similar levels to other more expensive models of spinning reels. The new 2023 generation of EXCELER LT sports a ZAION body for an even lighter reel than the previous Carbon Light Material body. The reel handle is made of machined aluminum for a comfortable and strong connection to the reel’s main gear. To make the reel feel extremely smooth there are 5 ball bearings along with a 1 line roller bearing. MSRP for the reels starts at $99.99 and goes up to $119,99, they will be available this fall.
