Weatherby’s New Hard-Hitting Mark V High Country & Vanguard Outfitter Rifles
Weatherby announces two new rifles to their line of flat shooting, hard hitting hunting rifles. Starting at just 5.7lbs the Mark V High Country builds on the popular Backcountry™ 2.0, offering an ultra-light hunting rifle that is easy to carry and deadly accurate. The High Country features Peak 44’s™ newest carbon fiber stock, the Bastion. Weighing just 24 oz, the carbon fiber Bastion stock features a more vertical grip and dual front swivel studs for multiple attachments. It’s 3D HEX® recoil pad greatly reduces felt recoil and paired with an Accubrake™ the High Country can tame even the biggest magnum calibers.
New Mark V’s utilize an adjustable TriggerTech single-stage trigger for a short and crisp trigger pull. The High Country sports a lightweight #2 barrel that is spiral fluted to reduce weight and help aid in heat dispersion. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28tpi and includes a thread protector and Accubrake muzzle brake. The spiral fluted bolt utilizes Weatherby’s historic 54 degree bolt throw for quick reloading. The High Country is finished with durable Cerakote® and a custom hand painted sponge pattern. Mark V rifles are proudly built in the Weatherby headquarters in Sheridan, Wyoming. MSRP $2,699.
The Vanguard Outfitter is built on Weatherby’s classic Vanguard action, offering an integral recoil lug, match quality two-stage trigger, 3-Position safety, and cold hammer forged barrel. Featuring a Monte Carlo stock with custom paint job the Outfitter brings some flare to the Vanguard lineup. The cerakoted barrel is spiral fluted and capped with a Weatherby Accubrake. Both of these new rifles are backed by Weatherby’s Sub-MOA guarantee. MSRP $999.
Weatherby rifles have historically proven to be some of the most consistently accurate hunting rifles on the market and I’m almost certain these two new offerings will continue that trend. At a price of $999, the Vanguard Outfitter seems to be a great option for those looking to get into magnum caliber hunting, and want to make sure they’re getting a great rifle from the start.
