The OG Tackle Box Gun Gets an Update – The S&W SD9 2.0

The Smith & Wesson SD or Sigma series has been one of the original budget concealed carry guns that I’ve had the personal pleasure of owning in the past. While these affordable guns don’t have a lot in terms of features, they’re certainly reliable and affordable enough to fit just about anyone’s budget. The Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 is the company’s modernization project for this affordable series of handguns which now feature a much improved trigger, better sights, improved slide ergonomics, and of course, a price to match just about any budget out there whether you’re looking for a firearm for home defense, or something to carry with you for predator protection on your next hunting or fishing trip.

The perfect package for those looking for a “do-everything” handgun from the most trusted brand in firearms, without breaking the bank. Featuring an updated trigger and more aggressive slide serrations, the next generation of SD is built to do it all.

The Smith & Wesson SD9 2.0 pistol will come in a standard 16+1 capacity but is also available in a 10-round capacity version for more restrictive states. This update on an affordable classic has an MSRP of $349.00 but will likely have a street price well below that. One of my first carry guns was one of the original Sigma pistols (chambered in 40 S&W) and while these handguns didn’t offer a whole lot in terms of features, the second generation seems to be making smart improvements while keeping the price at a point where a working man can afford it.

Offered in 9MM, the new generation of SD from Smith & Wesson offers brand new performance benefits at a budget friendly price. The trigger in the SD 2.0 is an enhanced flat-face design, giving better feedback during the pull, break, and reset when shooting.

The addition of new serrations on the slide gives you better surface area to manipulate the pistol. The SD 2.0 offers an impressive 16+1 capacity in a utilitarian side, making it perfect for duty, home defense, concealed carry, or just a day on the range. SD 2.0 offers white-dot sights and is compatible with standard SD accessories like holsters, lights, and lasers.
