Nau Introduces Sinfully Warm and Stylish Synfill for Fall/Winter 2012

For Fall/Winter 2012, Nau – the sustainably-minded urban + outdoor apparel company – is bringing together sleek styling, high performance and sustainable insulation technology with the debut of the Synfill Sweater for men and women. These modern layering pieces are as warm as they are streamlined, and they feature the eco-friendly insulation technology Cocona activated carbon sourced from the industrial waste of coconut. This is the second season that Nau has utilized Cocona. The brand debuted Cocona synthetic fill in their Fall/Winter 2011 collection with the Insular Jacket.

“The Synfill Sweater is the ultimate performance layering piece,” said Peter Kallen, Nau design director. “Cocona is amazing at managing moisture, and it’s also incredibly durable. Aesthetically, this insulation is smooth and enables the pieces to have a slim, tailored silhouette. Whether worn on its own or as an insulating layer, the Synfill Sweater will be an indispensable, go-anywhere favorite.”

All-natural Cocona fiberfill is derived from coconut husks discarded by the food service industry. The husks are reduced to charcoal and combined with recycled polyester, then spun. The resulting fill has an increased surface area of fiber, which offers the main benefit of increased warmth for the weight and additionally spreads out moisture over a greater surface area. This helps move moisture away from the body, making it warm, quick drying and comfortable. Cocona also manages odor retention better than traditional polyester fill.

In addition to the Synfill Sweater, Nau introduces two hardshells featuring 30% Cocona – the Temp Jacket for men and the updated Insular Jacket for women.
