49th Annual “BUC” Cup Starts Soon

The 49th Annual Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament is set for January 19-20, 2012 out of Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach, FL. The legendary Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Release Tournament is steeped in sportfishing history and has been a leader in billfish conservation for the past 49 years.

As one of the most historic billfish tournaments in the world, the Buc Cup is also the only billfish tournament in the country that donates every penny of its proceeds to the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) and its 15-year mission to “safeguard the rights of saltwater anglers, protect marine, boat and tackle industry jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of our nation’s fisheries.”

The Buccaneer Cup runs concurrently with another excellent charity event, the Florida Fish for Life Billfish Tournament, which donates all of its proceeds to colon cancer research and treatment. The tournaments are run under the banner of Palm Beach Double Shot with the captain’s meeting at the original Buccaneer Bar & Restaurant on Singer Island set for tomorrow, January 18, 2012.

Three fishing days follow and the event is capped off with an outstanding awards banquet at the exclusive Sailfish Club of Florida in Palm Beach. Last year the winners took home beautiful trophy cups, split shares of over $200,000 in prize and Calcutta money and, most important of all, both tournaments are fantastic charity events hosted by dedicated volunteers.

Whether you join both tournaments or just enter the historic 49th Annual Buccaneer Cup, the captains meeting is set for Wednesday, January 18, so don’t miss out a legendary contest with what’s being ‘billed’ as an epic sailfish bite right now off Florida’s Atlantic Coast!

For more information and to enter go to www.buccaneercup.com  or call Tournament Director Gary Caputi at 732-899-9988 for late tournament registration information.
