After establishing safer shorepower connections in the marine market, SmartPlug Systems is also revolutionizing the way RVers and other outdoor enthusiasts receive their power. SmartPlug’s 30 amp connector and inlet is now standard equipment on XPCamper, an expanding pop-up camper designed for the overland adventurer.
“This was the first SmartPlug we installed,” said Marc Wassmann XPCamper head explorer. “I like the design and the way the plug seals up and keeps dirt and grime out. All in all it is the best system I have seen.”
Frank Cartwright, an XPCamper owner is currently exploring the wilds of South Africa with his SmartPlug. “The quick connect lock is easy to connect and disconnect from the rig,” said Cartwright. “There’s no twisting and turning and aligning prongs with holes.”
“The LED light tells me when I have power to the rig without having to check inside at the panel. The LED flashes if there is something amiss with the power point that I am plugged into so I can correct the problem before connecting to the rig or choose not to use questionable connections.”
The SmartPlug 30 amp plug and inlet protects against the leading causes of fire and electrocution, loose connections and overheating. The
unique sleeve configuration nests the plug and inlet together, making aligning the pins a snap. Any pressure or force is absorbed by the assembly’s body, not the electrical pins. SmartPlug is effortless to orient and connect, even in the dark.
XPCamper’s next unit with a SmartPlug installed is heading to Australia. Designed for adventurers, the XPCamper has a flatbed that replaces the standard truck bed to give additional storage space. The pop-up design creates less drag while driving. With the touch of a button, the roof raises to full standing height.
