2012 Georgia Turkey Hunt for Handicapped Hunters Set

Early On Saturday Morning, April 21st, close to 60 people consisting of Handicap Hunters, Volunteers, Guests and Landowners will head out to the South Georgia woods in search of harvesting Eastern Wild Turkeys. After a catered breakfast, each hunting group will set-off to 1 of 12 different hunt locations spread over 5 counties. Each Handicap Hunter and their guest will be paired with an experienced volunteer guide in search of a an Eastern Wild Turkey. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will also provide a safety briefing prior to the hunt.Tim Keller with Talon Outdoors LLC, stated “This event is made possible only thru the guides volunteering their time, and landowners granting access to hunting land.” “Since we started providing these events and hunts, the community has responded tremendously. We have had past participants from Georgia, Florida and Alabama and it grows every year.”After returning from the morning hunt, everyone will be treated to a BBQ lunch where awards, prizes and gift bags will be handed out. Keller further stated, “With this event, Our mission continues, To Create opportunities to bless those less fortunate through the Outdoors!” Since beginning offering these events in the Fall of 2008, there have been approximately 300 shooters, volunteers, and guests participating in one of the many events.
