Alaska Board of Fisheries to Meet in Ketchikan Feb. 24-Mar. 4

The Alaska Board of Fisheries (board) will meet February 24-March 4, 2012, at the Ted Ferry Civic Center, 131 Front Street, Ketchikan, Alaska. The board will consider regulatory proposals for finfish in Southeast Alaska and Yakutat management areas that have been submitted by the general public, fishing organizations, local Fish and Game Advisory Committees, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The board received 145 proposals for consideration during this 10-day public meeting.

The board invites oral public testimony during the meeting beginning February 24. Anyone intending to testify must sign up at the meeting site in Ketchikan by 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25. Public testimony will continue until everyone present who has signed up by the deadline has been given the opportunity to be heard.

All portions of the meeting are open to the public and a live audio-stream is intended to be available on the Board of Fisheries website at www.boardoffisheries.adfg.alaska.gov. Documents submitted to the board are intended to be posted online throughout the meeting. The board encourages the public to submit written comments on specific proposals. During the meeting, written comments up to 10 pages single-sided (or 5 pages double-sided) in length may be submitted, with a requirement to provide 25 copies. Individuals not attending the meeting can submit comments by fax to 907-465-6094.
