West Virginia Beech Fork State Park Golf Cart Use Policy Established
OutdoorHub 02.10.12
A new Beech Fork State Park campground golf cart use policy begins on April 1, 2012. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources developed this policy with the goals of balancing public safety and liability concerns with continuing to provide a quality camping experience.
“The use of carts will be allowed in designated areas of the campground,” said Brad Reed, district administrator for West Virginia State Parks. Requests for public comment on the subject were made throughout much of 2011. The cart use guidelines are posted on www.beechforksp.com under “Camping” and on public information kiosks at Beech Fork State Park
The policy is for use at Beech Fork State Park only. Golf carts are restricted from use on any other West Virginia state park, state forest, or state wildlife management area.
Beech Fork State Park is located near Barboursville and is managed by the Parks and Recreation section of the Division of Natural Resources. It is the only area within the Beech Fork area complex that offers overnight cabin accommodations and camping. Beech Fork Wildlife Management is managed by the Wildlife section of the Division of Natural Resources. Beech Fork Lake and Marina is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Neither the wildlife management area nor the Army Corps area offer camping. Only the Army Corps area offers marina services.
