Bowfishing When the Weather Gets Warm

Nothing is better than that gratification of hitting a moving target, especially when your’re shooting with bow and arrow at an underwater target. The boys down in Georgia, Texas and Florida seem to have most of the fun with it too.

Bowfishing has been around in form or another for quite some time. In the Philippines, aboriginal people used primitive bows and arrows to fish for food. The modern age has undoubtedly improved upon their mechanisms, crafting a compound bow for the task. The arrows are typically barred and bowfishers reel in their catch.

Where it’s available and where it’s legal, hunter-fishers can bowfish for alligator and alligator gar fish. Now that’s a thrill. And for those of you who aren’t experienced enough, there are plenty of guided tours to get you out on the rivers.

Check out the video below to see for yourself if you’d be tempted for the action.
