   02.20.12

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering an outdoor skills weekend workshop for women, April 13-15, at the Eastern 4-H Conference Center in Columbia, N.C.

The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop will provide expert instruction on a wide array of activities on the water, in the field and by the campfire. Cost is $225 per person and covers a choice of four outdoor skills sessions, all program materials and use of equipment, plus meals and lodging. Space is limited, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

“This weekend is as comprehensive as it gets, when it comes to an opportunity to learn and participate in outdoors recreation,” said BB Gillen, the Wildlife Commission’s outdoor skills coordinator. “It’s a fun, relaxed atmosphere, tailored for a fulfilling experience for each participant.”

Amenities at the Eastern 4-H Conference Center include climate-controlled living quarters, private showers and a spacious dining hall. The 250-acre facility boasts a spectacular view of the Albemarle Sound and access to nearby woodlands, meadows, pocosin forests, wetlands and tributaries.
