Colorado’s Sylvan Lake State Park Asks: “How Well Do You Colorad-know?”

Do you know the official state animal? What about the state bird? State flower? Discover all of this and more during a crafty Colorado day at Sylvan Lake State Park on Saturday, March 3, as we ask “How Well Do You Colorad-know?”  In addition to learning about the habitat and habits of the official state animal, bird, fish, flower, insect, tree and amphibian, there will be a variety of crafts for children three and older.

Participants can take home a columbine flower seed to plant, as well as other arts projects representing Colorado. The event will be hosted on a drop-in basis at the Sylvan Lake Visitor Center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. While staff will be present to assist and educate, a parent or other responsible adult must be present at all times.

After getting crafty at the visitor center, participants are encouraged to make a day of it and walk around Sylvan Lake or take a few runs with a sled. The visitor center has snowshoes to lend for no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis. A $7 daily or $70 annual pass is required for all vehicles parking at the lake, but parking at the visitor center is free.

If you would like more information about this event, please call the Sylvan Lake Visitor Center at 970-328-2021.
