The New Wave of Comfortable and Confident Women in the Field
Becky Lou Lacock 02.29.12
I am honored to be able to share stories, tips and tricks of my outdoor adventures around a campfire, at a party, in the beauty salon, and when there is not an ear available, I love to write them down! Sharing my experiences with others helps me feel that I am contributing information quite possibly a little inspiration to help encourage outdoor activities, especially for women!
I was very excited last fall to be given an assignment by John Geiger of InterMedia Outdoors, asking for an article providing my perspective on the challenge of women’s gear in the field for all outdoors activities. This article was right up my alley, and was a perfect fit for my experiences! The article was submitted and appropriately titled “Hunt Like a Girl”. It became available in print via Game & Fish/Sportsman magazine publications NATIONWIDE distributed in all Dec 2011/Jan 2012 issues. I am very happy to say that is now also available online titled “Hunting Gear Options for Women” at http://www.gameandfishmag.com/2011/12/28/hunting-gear-options-for-women/. I was only able to cover a few of the issues/solutions/work-a-rounds that I have experienced, but I truly hope that I was able to spark a few thoughts in other women in the field. Some that may currently contribute on many different media platforms, but others that might consider sharing those thoughts for the first time! I love to hear all ideas from men and women alike, but hearing from another woman that has actually “been there and done that” can sometimes speak straight to my heart. As I always say — “Let’s hear it from the Girls!“
Have a look at this brief article and pictures, and please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts that you would like to contribute!
