2012 NCAA Rifle Championships Begin Tomorrow

Tomorrow the top collegiate rifle shooters will converge on Ohio State University for the two-day 2012 NCAA Rifle Championships.

The Championships consist of a smallbore championship held Friday and an air rifle championship held Saturday.

TCU absolutely rolled through this season, extending their winning streak to 31 regular season matches. The Horned Frogs streak began in their 2009-2010 championship season when the school won its first title. Also hungry for its second title are the defending champions, the Kentucky Wildcats, who had an outstanding year themselves.

This isn’t just a two team show. This year’s title could go to any of the eight teams walking to the line this weekend, among which are the dynasty schools West Virginia and Alaska-Fairbanks.

On Saturday the NRA will hold its own award ceremony, announcing the 2012 Rifle All Americans.
