Bel-Ray Weekend Preview

   04.02.12

As the month of March draws to a close, Bel-Ray professional racers are in action across the globe. The United States, Italy and the United Kingdom all host professional races this upcoming weekend.

The 2012 Monster Energy Supercross series continues on Saturday night at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Blake Wharton is looking to improve on his 3rd place finish from a week ago and get back on the top of the box with a victory. Currently 2nd place in the series’ standings, Wharton has been the team’s top finishing rider all series. Teammate Hunter Hewitt was forced to miss last week’s event due to a knee injury sustained during the afternoon qualifying session. He is expected to return to action on April 14th in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Dodge/Hart & Huntington/Sycuan Casino/Bel-Ray Racing team is back to two riders this week as Josh Hill rejoins the team, following his round 1 leg injury. He will join Kyle Regal, a new team member as of 2 weeks ago, recruited as a fill in rider for the injured Kyle Partridge. Regal has been coming up to speed each week and should be a top 10 contender by the end of the series.

The Superbike Series continues this week in Imola, Italy and the Bel-Ray backed Althea Ducati team is set for a top finish. Despite his crash in the opening race of the 2012 season, defending World Champion, Carlos Checa rebounded to take a convincing win in the 2nd race of the day. World Superbike rookie, Davide Giugliano performed admirably with a consistent 9th and 13th place finish during the two race event. Both riders have shown exceptional speed on the 1198 Ducati and will be contenders for race wins this weekend.

The Maxxis British Motocross Series continues for round 2 this weekend in Canada Heights, Kent. Bel-Ray’s newest racing team, Route 77 Energy MVR-D Honda, returns to actions with Gert Krestinov and Jason Dougan in MX1 competition and Bradley Pocock in MX2 competition. Round 1 action took place on March 11th in Doncaster. Krestinov was 2nd overall, followed by Dougan in 6th overall in the MX1 class, while Pocock finished 15th overall in MX2 class racing. As one of the most promising teams in British motocross, Bel-Ray is looking for excellent results this weekend.
