Discover Spring During Hikes in April and May at Missouri’s Sam A. Baker State Park

Discover spring wildflowers and learn about edible plants on guided hikes this spring at Sam A. Baker State Park near Patterson. Take a wildflower hike on Saturday, April 14 or a wild edibles hike on Saturday, May 19. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, both hikes are free and open to the public. Both will begin at 10 a.m.
On the wildflower hike, you will discover the diverse wildflowers found in the park. Join a park naturalist for a leisurely stroll along the popular Shut-ins Trail while learning about the types of flowers, how to identify them, their medicinal and edible purposes, and historical folklore.
On the wild edibles hike, learn how to identify the plants, their medicinal and edible purposes, and historical folklore. This hike will also follow the Shut-ins Trail.
For both hikes, meet at the Mudlick Trail trailhead, across from the park store and wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
