Shooting Industry’s June Issue Looks at Optics and Salutes Teams of the Masters

The June edition of Shooting Industry magazine examines the keys to selling optics, encourages dealers to get out from behind the counter to profit from handgun accessories sales, and looks at what’s selling in the ammo and reloading market. The June issue also features Shooting Industry’s annual gallery of Shooting Industry Masters Challenge Ads, a salute to the teams of the Masters.

“How many of the rifles purchased in your store include a quality scope upgrade? How many of your customers realize the difference a quality binocular or spotting scope will make in the field?” asks the June article, “Optic Smart: Education, Education, Education — It’s Key To Profits!” Dealers who really know the features of today’s optics and train their sales staffs are the ones enjoying the profits.

Linda Ewasiuk of The Bullet Hole in Omaha, Neb., brands herself a “rule breaker” when it comes to selling handgun accessories. As she tells dealers in the June issue, the key to increasing sales is engaging the customer in conversation.

“Start a dialogue. If you ask the right kinds of questions, you’ll be able to make accessories sales by pointing them to the products they need,” Ewasiuk said.

“Ammo & Reloading — What’s Selling?” profiles four dealers throughout the country who are taking advantage of the hot market. Handgun ammo is a best seller in Florida, Oregon and Minnesota, with cowboy action selling well in the Southwest.

Mark Rutan of Bill Jackson’s in Pinellas Park, Fla., says Hornady’s Zombie Max ammunition is a surefire seller. Shooting Industry interviewed Steve Hornady, company president, and discussed the response he’s received to the ammo.
