Re-Launched Clam Fish Trap X2 Wows Avid Ice Anglers

After a couple of seasons in hibernation, Clam Outdoors has hefted up the Fish Trap X2 Thermal in so many ways it’s turning a lot avid hard-water anglers‘ heads. From a redesigned tub to improved seats, spreader poles and pole slides—the Fish Trap X2 is not the same extreme shelter it was before—from the bottom up. A stronger, thicker molded tub boasts a breakthrough two-tone extruded technology. Not paint, this molded-in, light gray top side makes it much easier to locate gear or any dropped items.

The poles are uniquely improved in two ways this season with the Fish Trap X2. A patented Spreader Pole System (SPS) allows the spreader poles to remain attached to the roof poles, right where you need them rather than bouncing around the bottom of the tub getting damaged. When ready to use the extra support—batta bing, batta boom—they slide into place in a heartbeat. “Our engineers really hit a homerun on this one,” shared Steve Geertsen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Clam. “After the first time we saw it we were all scratching our heads wondering, why didn‘t we think of this sooner? It‘s so perfect.”

And the new Rapid Pole Slide Extreme (RPSX) system makes set up and break down even easier, especially with gloves on. “On extreme weather days it‘s so nice not to have to take off gloves or mitts to put up or breakdown your shelter,” shared Jim Hudson of Bayfield, Wisconsin. Hudson is a Clam pro staffer and professional ice fishing guide on Lake Superior. “That‘s what‘s great about this new RPSX system. It all works so easily with my IceArmor on. I love that.”

Thermal Trap Technology means double layers of fabric boasting 900-count denier on the Fish Trap X2 Thermal. And when it comes to comfort, the two deluxe seats slide both forward-back and side-to-side and remove completely for total flexibility. The center console tray slides for comfort and easy access into the tub. “The adjustable seats are great as different people use your shelter. Tall, short, whatever—the seats adjust to who‘s ice fishing with you that day. And I love the sliding tray. You can keep your lures and other tackle close by. But also your light to charge glow baits and a two-way radio. Even the cup holder comes in handy when it‘s ‘fish on’ and the beverage can needs a home quickly!”

Many of the exciting changes to the re-launched X2 are also available in the industry favorite Fish Trap X4 TC. Larger, able to seat four comfortably, the X4TC also sports the new two-tone gray tub, full-motion seats and console and double denier (900) thermal on top along with the newly patent-pending Spreader Pole System (SPS) and Rapid Pole Slide Extreme (RPSX).

Always the innovator and leader in ice fishing gear and shelters, Clam Outdoors continues to set new high standards with the Fish Trap family of extreme shelters.
