Big Agnes Inc., maker of innovative sleeping bags, pads and tents, will change the future of the sleeping bag market by introducing new insulation and construction technologies in down and synthetic sleeping bags at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. Many of the company’s down bags will now contain DownTek water repellant down while key new synthetic bags will include Pinneco Core, a cutting edge synthetic insulation exclusive to Big Agnes.
“We are constantly on the hunt to incorporate futuristic new technologies into our products,” says Bill Gamber, co-founder of Big Agnes. “Our 2013 sleeping bag line truly represents our commitment to creating the most innovative, reliable and comfortable camping gear possible.”
Big Agnes will include DownTek water-repellant down into eleven of its 2013 sleeping bags. Incorporating nanotechnology and a proprietary application process, DownTek transforms down into a water repellant, anti-microbial and anti-bacterial insulation material. Even in the wettest of conditions, DownTek repels water while maintaining loft, insulation value and breathability.
“DownTek opens new doors for down insulation,” says Daniel Guigui, President of Big Agnes’ down supplier Down Decor. “Water repellency will allow down bags to go virtually anywhere. We’re excited about future applications of DownTek, and our partnership with Big Agnes is a great start.”
Known for its integrated sleeping bag and pad system, Big Agnes will release four traditional mummy sleeping bags with DownTek this August: the Bellyache Mountain SL 15°F, McAlpin SL 0°F, Juniper SL 25°F, and Lithia Spring SL 15°F. DownTek™ will also be used in several best-selling models for 2013, including the Lost Ranger 15°F and all Men’s and Women’s Classic series down bags.
Additionally, Big Agnes will introduce four synthetic sleeping bags with Pinneco Core, a new breathable synthetic insulation exclusive to Big Agnes. With Pinneco Core technology, users stay dry inside and out. Pinneco Core has several unique elements: the Core Screen™, which resists any water from outside, and the Core Fusion™ process which seals the insulation like an air pump, actively drawing sweat from inside the bag. This advanced system marries the water repellant nature of synthetic fiber with moisture management and breathability to deliver maximum comfort. These bags also feature Insotect Tubic construction, a unique tubular system engineered to deliver the maximum cubic loft for supreme thermal efficiency and user comfort. New models include: Shoestring SL 15°F, Beeler Gulch SL 0°F, Betty SL 25°F and the Gem Lake SL 15°F.
All of the bags will be on display at the Big Agnes booth (#18041) during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 2-5 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
