Zombie Mania-inspired gear makes a splash in the October Issue of GUNS Magazine, which also features a review of a Nighthawk Custom 10 and a special analysis on the best values in optics.
A Nighthawk Custom 10 adorns the cover of the GUNS Magazine October issue. This unique 1911 impressed contributing editor John Taffin — and not only due to its immaculate exterior, but also the impressive accuracy and the increased muzzle velocity made possible by its 6” slide and barrel.
“The largest groups —largest not smallest— came in at 1 ¼ inches while the smallest measured 7/8 inches,” writes Taffin. “We can safely say this 10 is definitely a ‘10’ and handles every load equally well.”
In this month’s “Quarter Master” column, contributing editor John Connor provides an amusing overview of must-have Zombie-inspired products for those looking to prepare for the impending Zombie Apocalypse. From “bleeding” 3-D molded targets to green-tipped cartridges, the products fueling this Zombie craze have inspired people to shoot more — which is to their ultimate benefit.
“If you train to stop an aggressor who knows no mercy, feels no pain, and can’t be stopped unless you bust his structure or punch his cranial ON/OFF switch, you’ve also trained to deal with a body-armored chemically-cocktailed whacko sociopath,” Connor declares. “And that just makes good sense, right?”
For those looking for information on even more Zombie gear, check out this month’s “New Products” section, devoted entirely to apocalypse-related paraphernalia.
The October issue of GUNS Magazine also features a review of the polymer-framed .22 LR and .25 ACP pocket pistols by Taurus, a look at Mossberg’s popular Flex 500 12-gauge shotgun, a narrative of the novel .339 Déjà vu cartridge, and a special report on how much money should actually be spent on riflescopes and mounts.
Springfield Armory’s new sub-compact XD-S highlights the October Gun of the Month giveaway, which also includes a Gerber gun-cleaning kit, a set of Howard Leight Impact Pro Electronic Earmuffs and Genesis eyewear, Laserlyte’s new interactive Laser Trainer target and rear sight laser for the XD-S, a pair of Zombie Industries mutilating targets and the Hornady Lock-N-Load Ammo Plant kit — an impressive giveaway valued at $2,810.
