The Stories are Wilder, The Guns are Weirder, The Values are Higher – Beginning January 7 at 9 pm ET
As you welcome the New Year, welcome back a new season of the premier gun show focused on America’s treasures – NRA’s Guns and Gold. Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, is pleased to announce the second season of NRA’s Guns and Gold beginning on Monday, January 7 at 9 pm ET/PT. This novel series is brought to you by America’s foremost advocate of Second Amendment rights, the National Rifle Association (NRA). NRA has four million pro-second amendment members and millions more interested in shooting, hunting sports and legislation.
NRA’s Guns and Gold will continue to reveal the fascinating and entertaining true stories of treasured firearms in an “Antiques Road Show” style format. Filmed at the 2012 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in St. Louis, as well as at major gun shows around the country, the show features hosts Jim Supica and Phil Schreier from the National Firearms Museum. Jim and Phil evaluate guns brought to them by NRA members and explain what makes each one so unique. Their expertise is tested by some of the most interesting and unique firearms imaginable– not to mention the fascinating stories that come with each gun.
The stories are wilder, the guns are weirder, and the values are higher. The hosts also find six figure beauties and call out a few fakes! Plus, each episode highlights the National Firearms Museum, home of the NRA Gun Collection, and its mission. Click here to see a sneak peek: http://www.nragunsandgold.com/
“While nearly every American Sportsman is aware of what the NRA is doing to preserve our future, we are excited to provide a showcase for what this great organization is also doing to preserve our past,” said Gavin Harvey, Sportsman Channel CEO. ” NRA’s Guns & Gold was an instant hit in season one and we expect that enthusiasm to grow with season two.”
Viewers will see both the iconic and obscure guns in firearms history courtesy of two professional evaluators: Jim Supica, NRA Museum Director and Phil Schreier, NRA Museum Senior Curator. Jim and Phil combined have more than 50 years of experience at one of the most well-known and largest firearms museums in the U.S. at NRA’s corporate offices in Fairfax, Virginia. On NRA’s Guns and Gold, they will examine viewers’ precious commodities to discover their features and provide value.
“As to why Americans have such an affection for firearms, that’s tied to the American character – rugged individualism, a fierce love of freedom, and a sense of obligation to pass on to future generations the liberties that were secured by our ancestors,” said Supica. “That, plus guns are way cool.”
“Season two is full of surprises, from barking dogs to pieces that would be at home in the Royal Armories,” said Schreier. “Keep an eye open for a Civil War revolver mistake and a quarter million dollar coin toss. We never know what will walk through the door. You will never know what value lurks in your attic if you don’t tune in, too.”
Guns reviewed will include a Catron pistol, a pair of Howda pistols, a Blunderbuss and a Liberator Pistol. Plus, Jim and Phil tell one lucky gun owner his firearm is valued at $80,000 to $100,000!
