Connecticut Firearms Makers, Employees Talk About Jobs in New TV Ads
National Shooting Sports Foundation 03.10.13
The management and employees of three firearms manufacturers with operations in Connecticut speak out in separate television commercials that begin airing today on several cable television systems in the state, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry.
“The firearms industry has a long history in Connecticut and continues to have a sizeable economic presence and workforce in the Constitution State,” says Jake McGuigan, director, government relations, state affairs for NSSF. “Despite these facts, legislation before the General Assembly that would institute an outright ban on the sale of the most popular model of semiautomatic rifle today presents the real prospect of decreasing good-paying jobs in our state. Lawmakers need to understand that the underlying issues go deeper than whether a manufacturing exemption would be put in place. The value of our companies’ brands and national consumer acceptance of firearms made in a state that bans them within its own borders are serious business issues.”
The Commercials feature employees of Colt’s Manufacturing Company of West Hartford, O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc. of North Haven and Stag Arms of New Britain. NSSF produced the ads and is paying for the air time.
The TV ads are now airing on cable systems serving New Britain, Bristol, Berlin, Waterbury, New London, Norwich, Meriden, Litchfield County, Willimantic, Groton, Clinton, among other areas and will be seen by viewers of the A&E, CNBC, CNN, Discovery, ESPN, Fox News, FX, History, USA and The Weather Channel cable networks. The on-line news sites CT News Junkie and Capitol Report will also carry the ads. The commercials may be viewed here:
