Outdoor Channel announces Tony Caspers, an active member of the Minneapolis S.W.A.T. unit, as the winner of the first season of the hit original series, “Elite Tactical Unit: S.W.A.T.”
Hosted by Mykel Hawke and presented by Sig Sauer, “Elite Tactical Unit: S.W.A.T” debuted as Outdoor Channel’s first-ever tactical competition series and featured two teams made up of the best special weapons and tactics operators nationwide. Competitors faced mentally rigorous and physically demanding missions during the competition, all vying for the $10,000 prize for themselves in addition to cash and prizes valued at more than $100,000 for the S.W.A.T. departments they serve back home.
It all came down to two operators, Caspers and Scott McDonnold, going head-to-head in the season finale. Hailing from Albany, Minnesota, Caspers proved he had what it took to win it all. He started his law enforcement career in 1991 with the Minneapolis Police Department and is assigned as a full-time S.W.A.T. officer in the Special Operations Division. Caspers has been on the S.W.A.T. team for 19 years.
