OutdoorHub 06.13.13
American COP readers will discover a “tricked-out” BearCat and other field-related vehicle improvements in the July issue. An exclusive look at vehicle accessories shows how agencies’ favorite “rides” can be outfitted with the latest technology, making them even more useful while still looking good.
Though the BearCat remains an impressive special forces vehicle, recent aftermarket improvements to this armored giant bring it to its full potential as a gear-friendly SWAT vehicle, making it cover-worthy in the July issue of American COP.
In “Trick My Ride,” author Ti Goetz discusses the collaborative effort between the Hawthorne PD’s SWAT team, Key Steel and the South Bay Regional Communication Center as they came together to produce the BearCat’s ingenious new design.
“The end result of these tweaks was a BearCat well-suited for the needs of the Hawthorne Police Department and the SWAT team. Like everything in police work, there’s always room for a little improvement.”
To assist in “tricking-out” any ride, the July issue also contains the annual “Vehicle & Motor Accessories” feature, displaying the latest bells and whistles to enhance any conveyance. A few of the goodies featured include: Shoei’s Neotec modular helmet, the TourMaster Flex LE Jacket, rugged tablet PCs from Mobile Demand and more.
Other features in this issue of American COP include a look at free firearms training from Khyber Training Group in “Lights, Sights and Lasers”, and about the use of revolvers in the “good ol’ days” of police work in “Legacy: When Cops Carried Revolvers.”
