Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader In Outdoor TV, today announced that the outdoor lifestyle cable network’s affiliate sales and marketing team was honored with the prestigious Sales Team of the Year award by CableFAX, a notable cable industry publication. Additionally, Outdoor Channel’s Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Randy Brown, was named to CableFax’s Top 100 Power Players list, which highlights the top cable industry executives. And, Mark Romano, Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Eastern Division, was among the finalists for Sales Executive of the Year.

“To be recognized on a consistent basis by CableFAX truly demonstrates the dedication and tenacity of Outdoor Channel’s high-achieving sales force,” said Brown. “As a Sales Team of the Year finalist in 2011 and 2012, I’m very proud to be acknowledged as this year’s very best. Our continued subscriber growth as an independent cable network in an increasingly competitive market is a direct result of those honored here today.”

At an event held this morning at the Grand Hyatt in New York City, Outdoor Channel was bestowed with the Sales Team of the Year Award, the second such award for the network since sharing the honor with Discovery in 2009. Nominated in the same category were a highly respected group of cable networks, including Disney/ESPN, NBCUniversal and RLTV.

Led by Randy Brown, the sales team is a close-knit group, most of whom have been with Outdoor Channel for more than half a dozen years. In addition to Brown, the team is comprised of Mark Romano, Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Eastern Division; Daniel Soane, Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Emerging Media, Central Division; Nathan Holm, Director of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Rocky Mountain Region; Russell Cooper, Director of Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Central Region; and Christy Benson, Director of Affiliate Marketing.

Outdoor Channel’s affiliate sales team grew domestic subscribers by 2.89 million in 2012, including a milestone month in September that added 1.1 million subscribers alone. HD clearance jumped by 38 percent, and international subs crossed 10 million with notable launches in Russia, Indonesia, Sweden and Taiwan.

Mark Romano was among the finalists for this year’s CableFAX Sales Executive of the Year Award. He was honored in 2012 and was dubbed the “The Renewer” by the trade outlet for thinking “out of the box.”

“Having the ability to share proud moments like this with the rest of my sales team is motivation for an even stronger push for the second half of 2013,” added Brown.

Earlier this month, Randy Brown was awarded his fifth consecutive CableFAX 100 Award. The award showcases the “who’s who” of the cable industry, setting the industry benchmark for excellence across all areas of cable.
