The Bear Whisperer will continue to unlock the secret mysteries of bears and bear hunting in 2013 with Pursuit Channel, America’s #1 outdoor network on satellite television, as its exclusive home. Bears are among the most misunderstood big-game animals in North America, says producer Blaine Anthony, who uses remixes of classic footage and new video shot in 2013 to show bears like they’ve never been seen before.
Starting this July, The Bear Whisperer airs Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m. as part of a new NRA titled programming block.
During a combined eight years of hosting the likes of North American Safari, The Bear Whisperer and Hitmen, Blaine Anthony is a familiar face to national TV audiences. “I have been hunting bears for 20 years and words can’t describe how excited I am about this new series,” said Anthony. “Viewers will get much more than just bear hunting. I’m also going to focus on conservation efforts, bear vocalization, baiting techniques, rare bear attacks, the reopening of a junkyard invaded by bears and entering their dens in winter with a team of biologists.”
The 13-week season escalates to an episode that educates viewers on why bear attacks occur, including video of multiple bear attacks and stories from survivors.
The Bear Whisperer has the look and feel of a miniseries style show, a chronological year with bears starting in the spring. “Viewers will come away with a greater understanding of the world of bears and bear hunting,” said Anthony, a registered bear hunting guide for over 12 years with hundreds of successful hunts to his credit. Anthony has the uncanny ability to track, locate and understand bear behavior.
“The Bear Whisperer is one of the Pursuit Channel’s most interesting and exciting hunting shows,” said network CEO Rusty Faulk. “This has the promise to be its best season ever.”
