The Outdoor Campus-West Offers Hands-On Learning Experience at 2nd Annual Outdoor University

Game, Fish and Parks’ The Outdoor Campus-West invites the public to attend their Outdoor University event from 10 a.m. to 4 .m.  on  Saturday July 20.

The free, family-friendly event will provide great hands-on experiences in a variety of outdoor sports and will also give participants an inside look into the management work of Game, Fish & Parks.

“Outdoor University is a great event because it offers a lot more than just the typical ‘Outdoor Campus’ classes like kayaking and BB gun shooting. We also have staff from our management programs on hand to teach people about their work and the tools they use to do it,” Chad Tussing, director of The Outdoor Campus-West, said.

Some of the stations at Outdoor University include big game drop nets, fish cleaning and identification, timber management, preschooler ‘shooting range,’ rock climbing, kayaking, and fishing. The event is open to the public at no cost. Tussing adds, “New features this year include stations from some of our area partners like The Journey Museum, Dahl Fine Arts Center, Museum of Geology and others.”

The Outdoor Campus-West is located at 4130 Adventure Trail and is open to the public seven days a week with no admission fee.
