Benny Spies is NOT afraid of taking unconventional chances in the spirit of having a good time. His afternoon adventure on this week’s episode includes driving his 1973 Winnebago (i.e. “The Toaster”) onto the snow-drifted lake of Watertown, South Dakota. Then, Spies decides to escape from the icy temps to Texas for hog hunting heaven. After an enjoyable time in his hometown, Spies heads to the Lone Star state to the Hickman Ranch for hog hunting with two humble and entertaining Texas ranchers. The action is initially slow for Spies and his guides, but it does not take long for Spies to locate two hogs from approximately 120 yards away.
“It was a reminder to never give up, we just kept at it and then as we were moving to a new location, I turned and spotted two good sized hogs,” said Benny Spies, host of Gun It with Benny Spies. “I gathered myself, turned and it was ‘all she wrote’ for the hog and victory for ‘Team Gun It”! The entire episode has a great flow of ups and downs; and that’s what hunting and fishing are all about. The journey is always at the forefront of what we do and I sure as heck enjoyed the opportunity to ‘cowboy up’ up for the Texas hunt.”
