Annual Event to Donate Catch to Local Milwaukee Shelter
Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, is proud to support the 13th Annual Brew City Salmon Tournament happening this Saturday, August 10, at McKinley Marina in Milwaukee, Wis. This year, the tournament is donating its catch to the Milwaukee Hunger Task Force to feed those in need.
“This is our top tournament every year – we have 100 plus boats competing for up to $4,000 in prizes,” said Bob Wincek, President of the Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Milwaukee Chapter. “With that, we expect to donate more than 1300 pounds of fish to the Milwaukee Hunger Task Force. Last year, we topped 7,000 pounds of fish and over 1300 pounds of fresh fish filets were donated to Milwaukee Rescue Mission. Our Captains are very generous with their catches.”
The tournament also offers numerous prizes for largest fish and for Captains of the first boats coming back with their limits before noon. “This is the largest one-day tournament on this side of Lake Michigan. Spectators are welcome!” said Wincek. The weigh-in starts at 12 p.m. CST and concludes about 3:30 p.m., with the Awards ceremony after the figures are verified. Food and beverages are available on the grounds.
The tournament will also have t-shirt sales and raffle items during the day. The weigh-in starts at noon. Club members are cleaning the fish and packing them in coolers for pick-up by the Milwaukee Hunger Task Force.
Sportsman Channel is supporting the Brew City Salmon Tournament as part of a six-tournament series this summer in partnership with Salmon Unlimited. The network provided prize money for the series and will film part of the series. For more information on Salmon Unlimited’s tournament series, visit http://www.glsfclub.com/brew-city-tournament/
