This week on Winchester Deadly Passion, host Melissa Bachman’s goal is to “fan in” spring gobblers as she hunts on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota with guide, Ben Bearshield. Unfortunately, the spring weather is more like summer with temps hitting the 90’s, which makes for inactive turkeys. Tune in to see if Melissa gets her chance on some gobblers on the Pursuit Channel on Tuesdays at 6:30 am, Wednesdays at 1:30 pm and Sunday at 7:30 pm ET. Catch a preview of the show here.
“One of my main goals for this hunt was to fan-in a turkey. I’ve seen the footage and Ben told me all the great stories. But, just like decoying in a deer, the hard part of fanning is you have to hit them at the right time,” said Bachman.
And with temps in the low 90’s, the crew is noticing the birds simply shut down about an hour after they come off the roost, which really shortens their hunting time! Tune in to see if Melissa has a chance filling her tags.
