Nebraska Firearms Owners Association Announces $5,000 Donation to Nebraska Game and Parks to Construction a New Firearms Range

At their annual meeting in Grand Island last Saturday, the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association (NFOA) presented a $5,000 check to the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation to be used for the construction of a safe, new firearms range at Osage Wildlife Management Area.

In 1983, the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation was established to provide a conduit through which individuals, corporations, and organizations could donate funds to purchase park and wildlife lands, help build campgrounds and cabins, and provide other greatly needed facilities and improvements to Nebraska’s state parks and recreation areas.

“We’re a volunteer, non-profit group of conscientious gun owners who understand that teaching firearm safety and responsible shooting requires a safe place to shoot firearms,” stated NFOA President Wesley Dickinson. “That’s one of the big reasons the NFOA is making this donation to the Nebraska Game and Parks.  The NFOA has been working on other projects with the Game and Parks Commission for several years and this is just the next step in our long history of cooperation.  Once the range is completed, NFOA members are ready to pitch in to help with range cleanup, litter pickup, and making sure that the park property remains a beautiful, safe range for generations.”

“We are grateful of the NFOA’s generous donation of $5,000 towards the construction of our first Wildlife Management Area Rifle Sight-In Range,” responded Lyle L. Huston, Shooting Range Coordinator for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.  “This donation, when matched with grants and other sources of revenue, will pay for the construction of this safe and accessible rifle range for new shooters, as well as seasoned veterans alike.  Our goal for recruiting and retaining new hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts is to build additional WMA Rifle Sight-In Ranges throughout the state of Nebraska.  The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking forward to working with the NFOA on these important projects.  This is our future – this is our legacy.”

Nebraska Firearms Owners Association is the largest firearms rights organization in the state of Nebraska, and membership is free for all Nebraskans concerned with their right to keep and bear arms; simply sign-up at www.nebraskafirearms.org/join.  We are local firearms owners who have a personal interest in protecting firearms owners’ rights in Nebraska.
