Mississippi WFP Foundation to Host Super Hunt in November

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) and the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MWFP Foundation) will host the first annual “Super Hunt: A Deer Hunt for Youth with Disabilities” on November 1 – 3, 2013.  This three day event is free to any disabled child ages 6 to 17.

“This is a truly special weekend,” said Chad Dacus, MDWFP Wildlife Bureau Director.  “Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces makes all of the work on this event worth it.  This event would not be possible without the support of many landowners, volunteers, and sponsors.”

In addition to the deer hunt, participants will enjoy activities such as fishing, archery, laser shot, interacting with live animals from the MS Museum of Natural Science, a display of emergency vehicles, and more.

Registration for hunters, landowners, and volunteers is open until October 15 at foundationmwfp.com/SuperHunt.  To stay updated on the Super Hunt, like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FoundationSuperHunt.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP), formerly known as the Mississippi Game & Fish Commission, is an agency of the government of the U.S. state ofMississippi responsible for programs protecting Mississippi fish and wildlife resources and their habitats, as well as administering all state parks; it has its headquarters in Jackson. The agency issues hunting and fishing licenses, advises on habitat protection, and sponsors public education programs. It is also responsible for enforcement of Mississippi's fish and game laws. It is separate from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, which is the governing body for the state's natural salt-water resources and law enforcement thereof (i.e. Gulf of Mexico, ocean-going vessels, etc.).
